There are two types of energy efficient light bulbs are commercially available named LEDs and CFLs and both are better than traditional incandescent light bulbs. But the query is which light bulb is usually more energy efficient and this dilemma faces by consumers while purchasing energy efficient light bulbs. LED bulbs are a practical and economical way for architects, retail store display creators, entertainment designers and other lighting professionals to integrate ornamental illumination into maintenance-intensive applications. Additionally, LED cluster lamps continue to provide light even if one or more emitters fail-unlike when the filament breaks inside incandescent bulbs. Colored lenses or filters are not needed since LEDs emit colored light that is determined by the composition of the semiconductor material comprising the diode. Intensity and color remain stable over the lamp's lifetime. The major downside of LED is price. The initial cost of LED is higher than the energy saving light bulbs and incandescent. The best use for LED is directional lighting like traffic signals rather than room lighting. The energy savings Light (CFLs) are also used for energy efficiency. The energy saving light bulbs produces 40 to 70 lumens per watt and life span is 6000 to 15000 hours. The major drawback of energy savings light bulbs is producing mercury. The direct contact with mercury may be the causes of harmful diseases. The price of energy savings light bulbs higher than incandescent bulbs but cheaper than LEDs. The energy savings LED light bulbs are mostly used by household consumers, business enterprises, and street light and so on. One statistics shows that both LEDs and energy savings light bulbs (CFLS) will save $10,000 over a 10-year period. The consumers who will use LED can save $2000 more. The purchase decision is depends on the personal demand of the consumers. The consumers who are looking for wider spectrum of light color, then CFLs are the way to go.
